Daniel's Sr. Night

Tonight was a very proud and sad night for me. It was my 6'3" baby boy's last home football game. As tradition is they honor each boy with a highlight about him, Ethylen Perkins, one of Daniel's teachers wrote about him. Also highlighted were Corbin VanLeeuwen, Brady Meekoff, and Skiler Oliverson. They played Carey which is an awesome team(#1 in our Conference). I was very impressed with Carey's coach, they scored twice very quickly on us then pulled back their starters. We were thrilled to just finish the game. As you can see by the first picture you can see what Daniel did with the Silly String he got in his gift bag, his "sisters" got the brunt of that. He especially likes picking on Brook, she said he got her with the "wet" end of the can, it was so funny because she had it hanging off of her eyelashes. Below is what Mrs. Perkins wrote about Daniel:
Daniel Hepworth is the Salutatorian for the Graduating class of 2009 as well as Senior class Vice President. He has beeon on the High honor roll each year in high school. During his four years Daniel received awards for being top English, Welding and Plant Science student. Daniel is involved in National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America and Business Professionals of America. Daniel is also apart of the Times-News Murtaugh High School column.
Daniel received his Eagle Scout award and participated in the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia, He is actively involved in his church, serving in numerous leadership positions.
Daniel participated in Track, Basketball, and Football all four years of high school. While involved in these athletics, he was a basketball captain and received the award for JV basketball MVP and the Red Devil Football award for Football. Daniel is currently captain for Murtaugh's Football team. Daniel also is featured on the cover of the 2008 KSAW Pigskin Preview Magazine.
No doubt Daniel is a young man with a bright future ahead of him. Thank you for all you have done Daniel, your smile and fun attitude towards life will only benefit you in the years ahead.
I am so proud of Daniel and just want him to know his Dad and I love him so much! Thanks for being such a great son! Way to go!

Beet Harvest continued

It was a great day for Beet Harvest today, there was no school so Abbie got to go "help". First, as she does every morning, yes EVERY morning, she packed her Daddy's lunch. I do not take good enought care of him, ask her. Then she proceeded to pack a goodie bag for everyone else helping in harvest too. She went and rode in the truck with Grandpa Duane for a while, all the while he was quizzing her on activities that the farmers were doing in the field, what kind of equipment and such. According to her she did fairly well. Then she rode in the tractor with her Dad for a while. She says she is riding with Jeff tomorrow, he is one of her favorite people. We are so lucky to be able to do harvest with some of our favorite people. It is not every kid in the world who can walk into a field in their back yard and see both of their grandpa's. My kids and Ron and I are so lucky to have all of our family so close. I enjoy seeing them. As you can see by the pictures Abbie does too. The picture of Abbie with her Grandpa and her Dad sure does make me realize how much they all look alike. It was a wonderful day! We went around and gathered beets in our mule and took them to the beet digger for her dad that was fun!! Yet another reason I am so glad to be able to be home!

Beet Harvest

Well, you can see that I spend most of my time following the kids around. My poor picked on, neglected husband!! He often feels like he never eats anything besides concession stand food, and that if he wants to see me or the kids he better head to the gym! Unfortunately it is and has been mostly true. With volleyball season ending and the last home football game this Friday things are looking up for him at least for a month!! The great thing about basketball is that he is always with me in the concession stand then, makes me happy, him not so much! He has been hard at work on the farm getting all our crops in. Wheat harvest went well, market is yucky right now, but hopefully that will come back after the first of the year. Bean harvest was great, we were fortunate to miss most of the storms and get our crops out! I love beet harvest, the smell, the sound, everything about it, except for driving truck. I fully had intentions of driving truck through this harvest but the closer it got, the more I became avoiding the subject. I can do it, just isn't my favorite thing. It has worked out to where I haven't had to (WHEW), so I went today and took a few pictures. I will get some better ones when they are digging by our house. Harvest should wrap up within a week. I am thankful every year when it all is done and everyone is safe, no accidents or crop disasters!! Truly feel blessed by that! Now for a winter with my husband, this is one of the main reasons I quit my job!!

Halie's Game

We had the wonderful(I THINK) opportunity(obligation) to have the Northside Conference volleyball tournament at Murtaugh. Not only did we get to watch Murtaugh play, but we also got to watch Halie play!! They got to avenge themselves in a game against Richfield, it was a rather intense game to watch but Dietrich pulled out the win with some awesome plays. We were so excited! Way to go HALIE and BLUE DEVILS!!

Daniel's Locker!

Christy Hansen came to the school and decorated the Seniors lockers for their Sr. Night! She is amazing, I am so glad she does it for me because my creativity is REALLY limited! Daniel was so excited when he saw it!! THANKS CHRISTY!

Weekend wierdo's

Well, another weekend with extra kids! I love having them around. This weekend we spent all day, and I do mean ALL day, from 7:30am to 9:30pm at the gym. Lanie and Kyah came home, and we had Kylee, Brookie, and Jessica at the house. As you can see by the pictures, KaeLee Brook, and Kylee do strange things when they are here!! Never a dull moment!

Football Vs. Camas County

Had a game in Fairfield against Camas County Friday afternoon. It was hotter than I ever thought it would be and I was sweating, may I say I over prepared a little. After freezing the Friday before I may have over layered myself! Marsha O., Taylor L., and Halie rode with me to the game, it makes for a quicker trip. Ron was and still is in the middle of digging beets. The boys played a little "flat", I think it was really hot and also a few of the boys have really bad colds. It was still fun watching them play, Dan caught a pass for 2 extra points after one touchdown. Stinky Dan and Skiler rode home with us, we made them spray down with lots of cologne!! :) This week we play Carey for Sr. Night. It will be a tough game, both physically and mentally, not really excited for Dan to be done with High School, I know he will be sad to finish football.
